PADI Scuba Review (Open Water Refresher) Course

Overview

The PADI Scuba Review is the perfect way for certified divers to update their diving knowledge and scuba skills after a period of inactivity.

Prerequisites

Hold a scuba diving certification from any internationally recognized agency (PADI, NAUI, etc.). Minimum age 10 years old.

Course Details

The course begins with a Knowledge Review segment that covers the basic safety information divers learn during their entry-level training. Divers use the Scuba Tune-up Guidebook during independent study to test their knowledge and then review any questions with a PADI Instructor. The Confined Water Skills Review allows participants to practice basic scuba skills. With guidance from a PADI Member, divers update and fine-tune their diving ability.

In the Scuba Refresher Course, we will review:

  • Assembly of scuba equipment, don and adjust equipment
  • Pre-dive safety check
  • Deep water entry
  • Neutral buoyancy check at surface
  • Five steps for proper descent
  • Weight removal at the surface
  • Neutral buoyancy, fin pivot
  • BCD inflation, both oral and using low-pressure inflation
  • Five steps for proper ascent
  • Snorkel - regulator exchange
  • Mask removal, replacement and clearing
  • Alternate air source exercise
  • Free flowing regulator
  • Controlled emergency swimming ascent (CESA)
  • Neutral buoyancy – hovering
  • Scuba unit removal and replacement on the surface and underwater
  • Weight removal and replacement on the surface and underwater

Cost and Package Details

The complete course package price is 18,900 yen and includes:

  • PADI Scuba Review Tune Up Guide
  • Academic session, if required
  • Confined Water (Pool) Dives
  • Rental equipment (BCD and regulator set
  • PADI Open Water Diver DVD rental

Not Included in Course Fee

  • Transportation expenses to/from pool/ocean dive sites
  • Personal snorkel equipment (mask, snorkel, fins, and booties). We can provide a basic set for 19,950 yen (consumption tax included).
